The pharmacies are going on strike
Employees of pharmacies in Almere and the rest of the Netherlands will stop work on December 23, 24 and 27. The strike, organized by trade unions FNV and CNV, aims to demand better wages and working conditions.
Due to the Christmas period on December 25 and 26, many participating pharmacies will remain closed all week.
Update 12/20: Judge bans pharmacies' strike around Christmas:
The judge prohibits a strike by pharmacy employees during the Christmas period. This is the outcome of summary proceedings initiated by the trade associations against the CNV and FNV trade unions at the Central Netherlands District Court. (source NOS)

To my colleagues, thank you for the cooperation, sharing knowledge and the pleasant moments. Your dedication and support have made my work a special experience.
I wish you all much health and happiness. Thanks again for everything, and who knows, maybe our paths will cross again in the future. I will be present until December 27. If you would like to see me in person, you are welcome on December 27 between 3:30 PM and 4:00 PM.

Flu and pneumococcal vaccination
On Wednesday, October 23 and Monday, November 4, there is free entry for the flu and pneumococcal vaccination.
Walk-in between 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM.
Please do not arrive too early due to preparations.
The flu vaccination is intended for people who are more at risk of becoming seriously ill from the flu and for people aged 60 and older. (This also includes people who turn 60 before May 1 of the following year)
In addition, all women who are 22 weeks or more pregnant between October 15 and March 1 can get the flu shot. They can get the vaccination at the health clinic.
The pneumococcal injection protects you against diseases caused by pneumococci. This autumn, people aged 60 to 63 (born from 1-1-1961 to 31-12-1964) will receive an invitation. The pneumococcal injection works for five years.

Corona vaccine
Since the end of August 2024, the RIVM has been inviting people aged 60 and over by letter for the corona shot. People under the age of 60 who fall into the target group will not receive an invitation letter. They can make an appointment at the GGD. The corona shot is given by the regional GGDs. The injection is done with the mRNA vaccine JN.1 from BioNTech/Pfizer. It is possible to get the corona shot until December 6, 2024.
What is enough to drink?
It is healthy for adults to drink 1.5 to 2 liters on a normal day. Water or other drinks without sugar. Like tea or coffee. Moisture is also found in soup, vegetables and fruit, for example.
Drink enough when you are sick
With fever, vomiting and diarrhea you lose more fluid. Therefore, make sure you always have something to drink.
